KME served as Structural Engineer of Record for the cross-country facilities at Apalachee Regional Park (ARP). The facilities included the primary event pavilion, the awards stage, finish line structure, and observation decks. The primary event pavilion consists of approximately 2,000 square feet of indoor space including an open multi-purpose room and restrooms as well as over 3,000 square feet of covered outdoor space featuring exposed steel structures. The awards stage is approximately 1,100 square feet that will be used for awards presentations at cross-country events as well as featuring performance art during other events at the park. The finish line structure features a freestanding steel space truss structural system. The observation decks are timber boardwalks that serve as scenic overlooks at several locations along Lake Lafayette. Total building construction cost is estimated at $1.2 million.
